Triathlon is a mixture of three sports – swim, bike and run – and triathlon distances vary.

For the inaugural GQTRI we will feature 3 of the more common triathlon distances.

HOW MUCH DO TRIATHLON EVENTS COST?

Triathlon is never going to be the cheapest sport. Events take a lot of organising, whether that’s putting in safety measures for the swim, closing down public roads, accurate race timing, manning aid stations, providing dedicated medical support or just delivering a great race experience to triathletes. It all costs money. However, there is also a wide range of entry prices for races so you should hopefully be able to find something to suit your budget. Early booking can often result in a discount whilst late entries typically come with a penalty payment.

All our triathlon events are sanctioned by Triathlon South Africa (TSA) and officiated by NMB Triathlon. As such, all participants will require a TSA license in order to take part - these are in the form of the annual TSA Registration or a temporary day license. Day license fees are R55 for Sprint / Super Sprint distances and R134 for Olympic distance races. In order to ensure easy collection of fees and no additional payments on race day, our entry categories cater for TSA Registered and Temp License entries.

Incorporated within the GQTRI event will be the NMB Triathlon Championships for TSA registered athletes.
