NMBT Championships

Welcome to the Home Page of the Zsports managed Nelson Mandela Bay Duathlon Championships website. 

We are super proud to once again host these Championships which will be taking place on Sunday 22nd May at Pollok Beach, Nelson Mandela Bay ahead of Provincial team selection for the SA Duathlon Champs in the City on the 3rd July.

Whilst OPEN TO ALL budding duathletes, only Triathlon South Africa (TSA) registered participants will be considered for team selection and Championship medals.

NORMAL ENTRIES CLOSE SUN 8th MAY

The Championships will feature:-

  • Youth Duathlon (12-15 yrs of age) - 2.5km Run / 10km Cycle / 1.25km Run
  • Junior Duathlon (16 - 19 yrs) - 5km Run / 20km Cycle / 2.5km Run
  • Senior Duathlon (20 yrs +) - 10km Run / 40km Cycle / 5km Run

Top 3 age group winners will receive recognition on the day.

The Age Groups for the above Championship events will be defined as follows:-

  • Youth (12 - 15 yrs)
  • Junior (16 - 19yrs)
  • Senior (5 year intervals - 20-24yrs, 25-29yrs, 30-34yrs, ... 80yrs and over)

For the Championship, the age of participant is determined by their age as at 31st December 2022.

Also included in the Program will be Duathlon events for the social / non-registered duathletes and these events include;

  • Super Sprint Distance (12yrs and older) - as per above distances
  • Sprint Distance (16 yrs and older) - as per above distances
  • Standard Distance (20 yrs +) - as per above distances

There will be awesome finisher's medals for all participants on the day.

    Championship Podium Pictures at 12h00 (top 3 Age Group Winners)

  • Super Sprint Distance
    Transition opens 10h00
    Race Starts 10h30 with the 2.5km Run
    Championship Podium Pictures at 11h45 (top 3 Age Group Winners)

    LUCKY DRAW PRIZES (drawn from the finisher's list) after the 12h00 prize giving.

FINISHERS MEDALS for all race finishers (Championship and Non-Championship events) - Podium Prizes and Lucky Draws ONLY BY IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE. If not present, the allocated prize WILL GO to lucky draws. The ourselves and sponsors want the winners in the photographs.  

LATE ENTRY

Late online entries during the period 8th May - 20th May will be at an addition entry penalty of R100 whilst manual entries on the day will be a furher R100 late entry penalty. Online late entry closes midnight Friday 20th May.

NO ENTRY REFUNDS will be given but athletes will be able to transfer entries at a nominal R50 fee to another athlete BEFORE Friday 20th (contact Zsports to arrange this transfer).

 

If you set a goal for yourself and are able to achieve it, you have won your race.
