Rules & Regulations

Covid-19

Please be advised that any athlete who has tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 6 month may take part in a Zsports event without presenting a Doctor's (ideally sports doctor) letter advising that they have been examined and are cleared to take part in strenuous exercise.

All entrants agree to being temperature checked and the answering of relevant Covid questions prior to taking part in the event. If necessary your personal details will be passed on to the local authorities to assist with contact tracing. 

No athlete should attend an event if they are not feeling 100% on the morning of the event. 

 

The Championship Rules

The NMB Triathlon Championships is run in accordance with the ITU and TSA race rules. NMBT Officials, NMBT Referees and marshals are in place on race day, ensuring the safety of athletes at all times.

  • A compulsory full race briefing will be conducted before each race (see virtual version click here)
  • It is the athlete's responsibility to know the route(s)
  • No unsportsmanlike behaviour will be permitted. Any abuse of race official(s), marshal(s), traffic officer(s) or competitor(s) could lead to disqualification from the race and/or the Series
  • Minimum age for racing as at 31st December is 12 years (Super-Sprint Youth Championships), 16 years (Sprint Junior Championships) and 18 years for the Senior Standard distance. 
  • Any product prizes offered are by attendance only and will not be kept for the original winner thereof.
  • Race organisers and NMB Triathlon officials decisions are final

Swim

  • Participants to supply their OWN Swim caps - only brightly coloured swim caps are allowed (NO black, white, silver, blue or green).
  • No swim cap, no race
  • Wetsuits are permitted in accordance with water temperatures
  • Currently SWIMBUOYS are NOT permitted in official triathlon events.
  • WEARING OF MASKS prior to the Swim Start and immediately after your race finish IS COMPULSORY. Organiser will supply disposable masks for the start which must be discarded in bins provided as you get under starting orders.

Cycle

  • No Helmet, no ride
  • Only approved hard shell helmets are permitted and these will be inspected on check in
  • Helmets to be clipped on and worn during the Cycle Leg and not be unclipped or removed until bike is racked
  • No cycling is permitted in or around the transition area
  • Tri-bikes and/or Tribars are permitted and all bar ends must be properly plugged
  • Upper body garment must be worn
  • Traffic rules and officials must be obeyed - no road closures are in effect along the bike route
  • A time cut-off may apply during the cycle leg - such will be announced on race day
  • Supplied race number must be worn on race belt (facing backwards)
  • Cycle leg for the Super-Sprint and Sprint distances is DRAFT legal and in the instance of a bunch, ONLY the front rider may be on their tribars.
  • Cycle leg is DRAFT ILLEGAL for Standard Distance races.
  • STRICTLY no littering permitted

Run

  • Upper body garment must be worn
  • No outside assistance permitted
  • Strictly no littering permitted
  • Supplied race number must be worn on your race belt (facing forwards)
  • Social distancing to apply when running.
  • ONCE FINISHED, please put your mask back on and collect your bike from transition and please leave the race village.

Results

  • Results are shown live on our event website throughout the event showing your splits and overall position. 

 

Duathlon Events

    • For our duathlon events, we reverse the first and second run legs to better fit in with the timing of the triathlon events
    • For the Sprint distance, participants will START with the 2,5km Run (1 lap) and end with a 5km Run (2 laps) whilst for the Super Sprint, both Run Legs will be 2.5km (1 lap).
    • The start for the Duathlon will be at the entrance to the finish tunnel on the Metro cycle/walk path.

 

 

If you set a goal for yourself and are able to achieve it, you have won your race.
