Rules & Regulations


The Series Rules

The Summer Series triathlon is run in accordance with the ITU and TSA race rules. NMBT Officials, NMBT Referees and marshals are in place on race day, ensuring the safety of athletes at all times.

  • A compulsory full race briefing will be conducted before each race
  • It is the athlete's responsibility to know the route
  • No unsportsmanlike behaviour will be permitted. Any abuse of race official or competitor could lead to disqualification from the race and/or Series
  • Minimum age for triathlon is 15 yrs for individuals, 12 yrs for team members. Where a team consists of just 2 members, children between the ages of 12 and 14 may only do ONE leg.
  • Any product prizes offered are by attendance only and will not be kept for the original winner thereof.
  • Race organisers and EPTA officials decisions are final

  • Only brightly coloured swim caps are allowed (NO black, white, silver, blue or green).
  • No swim cap, no race
  • Wetsuits are permitted
  • Currently SWIMBUOYS are NOT permitted in official triathlon events.

  • No Helmet, no ride
  • Only approved hard shell helmets are permitted and these will be inspected on check in
  • Helmets to be clipped on and worn during the Cycle Leg and not be unclipped or removed until bike is racked
  • No cycling is permitted in or around the transition area
  • Tri-bikes and/or Tribars are permitted and all bar ends must be properly plugged
  • Upper body garment must be worn
  • Traffic rules and officials must be obeyed
  • A time cut-off may apply during the cycle leg - such will be announced on race day
  • STRICTLY no littering permitted
